seems an odd signing? Obviously, someone Grant knows and sees potential in, but I'm afraid I see it as a wasted opportunity, as we'll be paying to improve a player for another club's benefit. Surely it would've been better to sign him or someone similar, so we'd get any benefit from training him in his chosen career path.

Good point, but the lad is an England U20 player and Grant knows him well.

Grant had several ex Posh players from his time in charge when manager of Hull in 19-20, namely Elder, Tafazolli, Maddison, Samuelsen & Da Silva Lopes so it's clearly something he likes doing. That same season Cartwright went on loan to Barton Town in the Northern Counties East League at Step 5 of Non League (Level 9 overall). Same level as Wisbech, Sleaford, Skegness etc

If only we had a GK on the books who'd been promoted out of League One in the recent past though
