DAME Emma Raducanu

Post by bristleposh »

After her exploits at Wimbledon she has now eclipsed that by beating the American girl who knocked out the number one seed, on home soli 6-2 6-1 to reach the quarter final, best performance by a British female player apart from Konta in 2019, since Virginia Wade winning in 1968

Winner Winner, chicken dinner. I recorded the final and watched our brilliant young starlet, picked up her 2.5 million $ prize, apparently she is already the highest-earning British sportswoman. If she doesn’t win the BBC Sports personality it will be a complete travesty. As it will if she doesn't get honoured in the same way Andy Murray, Kelly Holmes, Tanni Grey-Thompson, Lewis Hamilton, and the many other sports stars whose only achievement has been sporting excellence. Arise Dame Emma

Far too early to award dame status to her. Needs to win more than just one tournament. Sports person of the yeasr - let us see how well she performs during the coming months.

Absolutely. Typical bristle, opens his gob or writes stuff before he thinks things through. You would have thought at his age that he would have matured enough to know this - either that or Early Onset Dementia is beginning to set in! :D :D

Romanian father. Chinese mother, born in Canada, lived in Britain for 16 years. If you didn’t know the story, would you say British, or does the trophy help?

The question is, where you get you nationality from? In my opinion, it is a combination of where you were born and the nationality of your parents. Happy to discuss others opinions.

I agree with your opinion but there is no dispute as to her nationality because she has been accepted as 'British.'
There are loads of cases where nationality can be questioned. It seems that you only have to have the slightest affiliation to a country and they will accept you - George Boyd and CMS -Scottish!!!?
