Wycombe and Rotherham

Post by JohnC »

Two of last season’s promoted teams are returning to League One.

Yo-yo club Rotherham are on their downward swing, having got to within two minutes of safety (sounds familiar) in their last game.

Wycombe gave some food for thought to those who felt they had no business in the Championship, falling just one point (well, two, actually, because of an inferior goal difference) from safety. They went down with colours flying, and with the same manager with whom they started the season. Well, done Gareth Ainsworth.

Wycombe finished in 22nd place (above Rotherham) with 43 points, which compares quite favourably with our 209-2010 relegation season, when we were bottom, sixteen points from safety with 34 points. We were on our fourth manager of the season at that point.

Wycombe’s 18 points from their last ten (Championship) games compares quite favourably with the 21 points we've managed from our final (League One) ten fixtures.
