Re: Outgoing rumours

yes of course they're my team & I'd say we're on a par with most of them to be honest, Rangers & Celtic aside of course No, I'd say we're as good as Rangers or Celtic . If Jermain Defoe can get a game for them at nearly 40 Dembele would stroll into Celtics team Defoe doesn't play for Celtic...

Re: Past and Present Players

Alphabet Soup served with Shrimps at Wembley

Toumani Diagouraga and Nathaniel Knight-Percival both played the full 120 minutes for Morecambe in their League Two play-off win over Newport.

https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/peterborough-united/peterborough-united-pick-up-ps1-million-after-brentford-reach-the-premier-league-3255206 A significant payday. I imagine that our preferred scenario would be for Brentford to get relegated next season, for Toney to enhance his re...

A Few Closing League One Thoughts

Turned out nice, again. Well, in the end it seemed as if we staggered over the finishing line with all the poise and elan of an inebriated pig traversing an oily ice-rink. Not so fast, though…. Our last-quarter (11 games) figures read: P11 W6 D3 L2 F26 A12 Pts 21 PPG 1.9 Project that points return o...

Re: Next season

Whatever happens to Derby as a result of their financial shenanigans is likely to benefit us. If they’re relegated, then presumably Wycombe will avoid the drop; if they suffer a points deduction (as Sheffield Wednesday did this season), then we will have a head-start on them.

Re: Fergie

I don't think we should aim for 4th from bottom. I think we should aim for mid table at least. Agreed. Whenever you aim for something, you can guarantee that you will never quite get it spot on. One or two either way and you could be in trouble. Mid table gives you that degree of miscalculation! An...

Indeed. Don't forget, however, that for the first two-thirds of the truncated season, we had a striker who matched Toney goal for goal. His name is Mo Eisa.

Jonson Clarke-Harris

Before joining us, he scored 24 goals in 42 games for a struggling Bristol Rovers side. Without him, Rovers finished bottom this season, ten points adrift of safety. He scored 31 goals for us in 45 games, including 7 penalties, 3 free-kicks and 7 headers. He has averaged 86 minutes per game. He rece...

Re: DONCASTER ROVERS v POSH Sunday 9th. May K.O. 12.000

It took Mason just eight minutes to head a goal from a set piece; Beevers has tried and failed to do the same in all eighty-six games he's played for us.
Mason also headed a goal in the EFL Trophy game against Burton. I'm a little sad to see him go.

Re: Retained list

I seem to remember that in 2011 we parted company with James Wesolowski, Chris Whelpdale and Charlie Lee shortly after the Old Trafford triumph, so I expect to see a few heart-tugging departures in the next few days. I don't know any of the circumstances of Gyollai's absence at Doncaster, but if he ...

Wycombe and Rotherham

Two of last season’s promoted teams are returning to League One. Yo-yo club Rotherham are on their downward swing, having got to within two minutes of safety (sounds familiar) in their last game. Wycombe gave some food for thought to those who felt they had no business in the Championship, falling j...

Re: POSH v LINCOLN CITY

Some Random Thoughts…. Lincoln’s first goal illustrated the problem of playing a back three if one of them (Thompson) strays too far upfield: Beevers had to go across and try to make a full-back/wing-back’s tackle. Lincoln’s third goal: we probably shouldn’t look to Brown if there’s any shot-blockin...

A Following Wind

I can’t recall a season during which so many on-field developments transpired so overwhelmingly in our favour….. Injuries Our starters were spared any significant absence due to injury. Ward recovered from an early-season scare; Thompson – against expectations – has stayed fit; even Taylor’s injury-...
