Attendance Predictions 2019/20

Post by Poshay » 13 Jul 2019, 14:11

I'll try to run this thread again (senility permitting) if nobody else fancies a go.

As previous seasons the points would be as follows :=-

10 points for the closest, then 9, then 8, then 7, then 6 etc

Predictions at least 3 hours before kick off.

There will be a 10 point bonus if you're bang on the nose.

For home matches the TOTAL attendance figure will be counted unlike the aways when only the number of Poshies attending will count.

Only L1 and the various Cup matches (as in Suffolk's thread) to count.

Only revisions sent as quotation posts will be accepted -it makes my job a tad easier.

..........................

Any suggestions for changes to the above?????

Any thoughts on making the prediction time limit earlier, say 6 hours?

Leave it as it is. That would mean having to predict before 9 o'clock on a Saturday morning and 1.45 pm for an evening match.

Good idea.
It would be fairer for people who have no way of knowing what is going on to affect the attendance, to at least see what others, who do have an idea, are predicting.
It is only a game. People who predict with inside knowledge should declare that.
We could even make the deadline for predictions 24 hours before kick off. For both prediction games.

Poor idea. That would mean that a lot of people would need to remember to predict during Friday afternoon when they are probably at work. Nobody has insider knowledge by the way other than sometimes Phil Adlam posts on Twitter that 'more than 200 tickets have been sold for the game.' That is not insider knowledge at all and nobody can predict how many 'walkups' there will be. Leave it as it is!

It doesn’t worry me either way but if there is a tropical storm in Peterborough about three hours before kick off, or a massive accident on the roads around the ground preventing people from attending them it does give local punters a better chance of guessing closer than those s like me and Tony who regularly post put guesses several days before kick off

That's right. "Local punters" will always have a better chance than those of us who live away.
It's not difficult to have a guess 24 hours (or more) before kick off. It would be the same for everybody and it is only a game after all.
It would make it easier for Poshay as well.
We have 6871 members at last count. We might need a poll to see which way we should go.Right now only a handful seem interested.

Good one bristle.
Seriously though, maybe we should cancel the membership of the 6000 or more who have never posted more than once. They can still read the board if they are interested.
