PREDICTION LEAGUE 2019-2020

Post by Suffolkposh » 13 Jul 2019, 08:26

HI ALL, I hope you are all enjoying the summer weather at the moment.

I am preparing to run the Prediction League again on the same terms as last year although, with all these new signings and departures my spreadsheet will need a serious overhaul again :D

I will not be able to do this for the pre-season friendlies but will be able to start on 1st day of the new season i.e 3rd August v Fleetwood Town.
As with last year I suggest we do this for League One games, Carabao (League Cup) Cup games and FA Cup games. (Maybe I will include the latter stages of EFL Trophy ? if this seems reasonable)

As with last year season the Prediction League rules will be -
You are required to predict the score of each Posh game and also the Posh scorers.
A. Correct result 5 points (win lose draw regardless of the score)
B. Correct Posh score 3 points
C. Correct opponent score 2 points
Maximum points 10 plus --
D. A bonus of 1 point for each correct Posh goalscorer.
E. A bonus of one point if you predict Posh will score 0. In other words you get a bonus point for predicting no Posh goalscorers and there are none.
F. No random bonus point rounds
For cup games etc the correct score will be the score at 90 minutes. Extra time and penalty shoot outs will not count.
Entries can be submitted (or changed) at any time prior to one hour before kick off.

Any other thoughts are appreciated.

Hope all the regulars and many more will join in this fun game.

There is nothing wrong with the present deadline of three hours before KO. Come Saturday (football day) people get in the groove of football and suddenly realise that they should be predicting. If it was left later (e.g. under an hour before KO then teamsheets would have been issued and people would be changing their scores and selections of those who would score.) This was altered some while ago and proved to be a good change.
Why make SuffolkPosh more work? He does a sterling job as it is! This coming from me, a very poor 12th out of 17th position in last year's Prediction League!

I think Tony is suggesting that no changes or new entries within the last 24 hours? Are you Tony?

I altered it to 1 hour before kick off so changes could not be made after the team sheet came out.
I am happy to stay with that.
I agree with Ashman that many predict late on the day as they are in the groove, so to speak

Yes that is what I suggest.
It wouldn't make it any harder for Suffolkposh.
People would have no valid reason to leave it until just before kick off and it would be fairer to those in different time zones.
