Don't shoot the messenger

Post by bristleposh » 07 Oct 2018, 09:30

Just like to point out some statistics for those who seem to love them, team without Toney starting 6-1-1
...................................................................................... team with Toney starting......1-3-2
....................................................................................... team w/out Magic starting ...6-1-1
........................................................................................team with Magic starting .....1-3-1

Does anybody disagree with these figures or would we better reverting to Godden and Cummings up frony and maybe Dembele and Ward on the wings (just to start) both can come on and make an impact if needed.

Let's not get carried away - this was always going to be a tough month for fixtures!
Most of us predicted Portsmouth, Sunderland and Barnsley to finish above us in the league this season - our last three opponents.
So let's see how the team react to this.

Those are strange stats. What do they refer to? You obviously didn't attend the Sunderland match. Dembele was played out of position and was awful. Cummings shouldn't even have been on the pitch as he was clearly not fit.

6 wins 1 draw 1 defeat, simple (I thought anyway) Toney and Maddison starting hasn't worked out and the two contributed far more coming off the bench, in the games when they were needed.

Yea right you thought it was a new playing system for when we've only started with a keeper and eight out field players

Totally meaningless stats. They includes Dembel going off the boil, Cummings 'trashaflatgate' and his injury and the opposition. The six wins were against Bristol Rovers, Rochdale, Luton, Charlton, Plymouth and Southend, hardly top teams. Ignore, it's just bristle trying to fling more 'tihs' towards his non-favourite player!

Possibly, surprised it took you a day and a half to respond. My point in case you missed it was that our form before the inclusion of Toney and MM was better than it has been since.

It was anticipated at least by the bookmakers that Charlton, Luton and Plymouth were more strongly fancied than us. There are glaring holes in our defence that even eleven Marcus's would not solve. I just quoted the statistics, as they stood, the performance at Plymouth which was my benchmark it was superb, when Marcus came on we consolidated. I feel that we are a better side with him coming from the bench. It certainly needs to be him or Dembele left out, I just think that Marcus offers us more when the defence is knackered and he can use his penetrative passes to better effect.

I give you another stat

P 26 W11 D6 L9

Last years team had a ‘weak menatality defensively’ apparently whilst conceding 16 goals in the final 12 games, this years ‘mentally strong’ team has conceded strong 24 goals in 14 games!

our failings in the past have been that we struggled to beat the clubs in the lower reaches whilst playing like roy of the rovers against what saint stevie calls the big teams

this year we have seen off the "lesser teams" so undoubtedly we should rejoice and continue to do the same, because that is undoubtedly the way forward

we now need to ensure that we have the wit and the backbone to beat the grownups

if we can do that then st stevie will be a fully worthy manager

that rookie manager at the keepmoat got his comeuppance at home at the weekend, 4 nil at home ,shocking!
still he's still nicely tucked in behind the automatic promotion teams
