A one off question

What initially would an intelligent cyclist's thought be on studying the following list of operas by Verdi

Tosca
Aida
Nabucco
Don Carlos
Ernani
Macbeth

As I say answers by PM we'll give you 24 hours to think about it, and see if any of you get it right.

To be honest, I'm not very good on these intelligence type lateral thinking tests. I saw the 'incorrect' answer above before reading it in the post.
But I've played all those operas except for Ernani, though MacBeth and Don Carlos only extracts; the others complete ...

I am surprised with your classical bent you missed it, the intelligent cyclist would have spotted that Tosca was a Puccini opera not one by Verdi.

Don't blame the messenger, it was courtesy of the last Morse book by Colin Dexter, supposedly a quiz set by Morse in the local Oxford Advertiser, Sgt Lewis was all pleased with himself for getting the answer Tandem only to be scuppered by Morse's response about Tosca.

Haha, it was the question itself that threw me. I've played Tosca complete several productions, it's a long opera, much more than a football match!!
