Daily Quiz

Post by ashman » 15 Aug 2014, 08:14

I'm really missing the challenge of dunc's Countdown Quiz and so I thought I'd do a daily quiz. It will be just one simple question each day and I'm not going to make it a competition. There will be no prizes or scoreboard but I will reply to any pm's you send me telling you if you are correct or not, and the following day I'll post the answer. If I don't get many people sending me pm's then I will take the hint and save myself the bother of doing it! I'll post the questions in red and the answers in green so you can quickly dismiss all the other nonsense that bristle will inevitably post!

Remember, no Googling, use of reference books etc. and please no hints to help other posters. Just use it to test your own knowledge and maybe learn one or two interesting facts as well!

Hopefully you will enjoy my efforts! OK, here we go with question number one!

yep see you in the Venue this Saturday

I really hope they have cleaned the pipes since last season, as the venue is the only place I have ever had a dodgy pint of Guiness, and that was the first gme of the season :comeon:

Yesterday's question: Who was the UK Prime Minister when World War II ended?

Answer: Clement Attlee

Attlee took over on 27th July 1945 and the official ending of WWII was September 2nd 1945 after VJ Day.
It is true that Churchill was still in office when VE day was declared (8th May) but he was ousted by the Labour government before the official ending of WWII. He was leader of the Opposition from 26th. July 1945.

Today's (Saturday) question: What is a SARABAND?
