Do you remember took five minutes for the TV to warm up?
The programs were all in black'n'white. On top of the TV there was an antenna that you had to jiggle around to get the station you wanted? You only got 2 channels back then. BBC and ITV. You'd ask "What's on the other side?" The picture you got depended on the weather conditions. No remote controls.
I can even remember when it was only the BBC. In fact I can remember when we didn't have TV.
I can remember the Posh playing pre-season games the Possibles v the Probables before crowds of 6 or 7 thousand.
Anybody else remember the good old days?

I can remember when all the blokes in our street used to cram into our front room to watch the boxing ( 1951) : we were so "posh" that we had a TV and an inside toilet.

I do remember going to a friends house where they had an outside dunny at the end of the garden with a big wooden box seat, I was led to believe there was either a bucket beneath or a massive hole.ashman wrote:Oooh, look at me with my 'inside toilet!'Poshay wrote:I can remember when all the blokes in our street used to cram into our front room to watch the boxing ( 1951) : we were so "posh" that we had a TV and an inside toilet.![]()

My Auntie and Uncle lived in a farmhouse. The bath was under a lift-up work surface in the kitchen.
I hated having bath at my Auntie's!

We used to dream of having a bucket!. Ours was a massive hole (shared by the three neighbours!!) which was emptied every so often.bristleposh wrote:I do remember going to a friends house where they had an outside dunny at the end of the garden with a big wooden box seat, I was led to believe there was either a bucket beneath or a massive hole.ashman wrote:Oooh, look at me with my 'inside toilet!'Poshay wrote:I can remember when all the blokes in our street used to cram into our front room to watch the boxing ( 1951) : we were so "posh" that we had a TV and an inside toilet.![]()
