The Ashes 2019

Post by Poshay » 05 Aug 2019, 16:44

England's multi national X1 were shot out for 146 on a pitch on which on the previous day the Aussies had scored 363 for the loss of only 4 wickets to go 1 down in the Ashes Series.
What do England do for the second test? Obviously Anderson will have to be replaced because of his injury but what about the rest of them? Bringing in their recently acquired West Indian fast bowler is a shoe in. Have England got a spinner who is not as useless as Moin Alli who was out bowled by two England batsmen. Can Roy be converted from a limited overs player, I think not but who could replace him?
Any bright ideas anyone??????

Not that I want them to, but England has to work out how to dismiss Smith early in his innings.
This series is beginning to shape up like the Don Bradman tour of 1948.

Four days of rain and we might scrape a draw out of this one.

My parents gave me a Dennis Compton bat for passing my Eleven Plus. It had a bright red badge on it which made it much flashier than the alternative Len Hutton willow.

It's still raining at Lord's.
But they are offering the players a pretty decent lunch.

I see they didn't even make it to the toss.

So it's now a four day game with a bit of extra time each day. More rain forecast.
A draw is now the favourite to conclude this Test match. What a waste of time.

Hey! At least that means we can go into the 3rd Test still only 1 down - so that's got to be a positive.

135/5 at present.

If we can bat all day & post around 270+, they are saying tomorrow will be the best bowling day of the test match. Woakes could do some serious damage.

Big problem is batting all day today to try to put up a competetive score.
