Everybody knows that the rules gave the game to England.
I am saying it would have been fairer and more sensible to award it to New Zealand because they took more wickets.
But as I said who is complaining? Not us Englishmen!
What nonsense.

The rules were changed to make teams more attacking, i.e. the team hitting the most boundaries.

England were therefore the most attacking team & deserved the win.

whatever ,

there is only one set of rules and both sides knew what they were

I still think that the kiwis had two or three bits of bad luck , and that they probably deserved to win

however, there was only one set of rules

The Kiwis had an incredible piece of luck when Woakes bowled a wide and then the ball 'spun' away from Butler just before he caught it. That went for four wides.

These things even themselves out.

There are always strokes of good and bad luck in almost any competitive game and both teams have to suck it up and abide by the rules. Just because the Kiwis had a couple of bits of bad luck in the final does not invoke the phrase 'they probably deserved to win!' I'm sure that during the course of the tournament that both England and New Zealand have both had good and also bad luck and they were both there on merit. England won the tournament on merit too! IMO of course!

England deserved to win because they scored more boundaries

NZ deserved to win because they bowled better and probably batted at least as well

incidentally it was not an incredible piece of luck that woakes ball went for 4 wides. It was positively bad wicketkeeping that buttler did not attempt to use his gloves. it is the first thing you are taught as a wicketkeeper and Ive kept wicket for almost 60 years

They bowled and batted just as well as England. Deserved and achieved are two different concepts.

If you've kept wicket for sixty years and can't see a ball spinning, then I'm guessing you should have given the gloves up 59 years ago.

All these ifs and buts. This wouldn't happen in real cricket.
England won and that's the end of it.

Bring on the Ashes!

anybody who can't see a ball spinning wouldn't be keeping wicket

that's why he should have used his gloves.

he can react much more quickly with his hands

Just talking about the result again.
I saw a suggestion that as it was tied after the super over the cup should remain with the previous holders - Australia.
Sounds like a good idea to me.
