The Ashes Third Test

Post by tonyp » 14 Dec 2017, 06:11

England really need only to draw this match and win the remaining two to retain the Ashes.
They won the toss. How will they go?
England needs a Captain's knock. I don't see it coming to be honest.
Expect England to score off Lyon.
Will any England batsman get a hundred? Some-one has to.

It's about time one or two of our batters showed up.

Cook and Root will surely come to the party sooner or later.

Tea Day 3
Australia - 421 for 4
Australia lead by 17 runs with 6 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
Not really evenly poised.
But a draw is possible.

Well for your, and England's, sake it has to be in the second innings in this Test Match.
There has to be a good chance that Smith will get 200 and Mitch Marsh 150.Australia on track for 500 plus.

Stumps Day 3

England 403

Australia 549 for 4 (Smith 229 Marsh 181)

Could be heading for a draw.

I've never seen such pessimism.
The thing that can save England is (a) some poor bowling by Australia and/or some good batting by England or...
(b) some poor batting by Australia and/or some good bowling by England.
It seems to me that the players are nearly as pessimistic as you two.
