I don't think I can remember a more shambolic 'government' in my lifetime.

You can't remember our troops invading Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction that they already knew didn't exist. I'd say that at least equals if not out trumps today's sorry state. Such a shame the main opposition party is led by a total no-hoper

What about the '70s when corpses lay waiting to be buried, refuse was piling up in the streets, strikes by nearly all unions, electricity cut offs, the three day week etc. was far worse than any of the scenarios above!

True, and that was a conservative government, but all caused by militant trade union leaders in the NUM sorted by Maggie :D

You say it was sorted by the milk snatcher

I say she started the deindustrialisation of Britain and caused the great schism between south east and the rest

The 'milk snatcher' as you call her was the greatest Politician, apart from Winston C. that we ever had the pleasure of having as Prime Minister. I wish she was alive today. Bresxit would have been done and dusted months ago.

Please look into your history books as Maggie did not actually make the decision on the milk for schools legislation alterations.

It would have been well worth keeping industries that were not viable, keep unproductive pits open for example. Service industries are the only reason the SE out performs the rest.

I must be mistaken

I had always thought that she was education secretary under Heath when milk was stopped being supplied to primary children

Any idea who was responsible ?

We won't know until the end of January who will win, but we should know tonight whether she has beaten off the challenge.

Whoever takes over (if she goes) it will be a poisoned chalice if ever there was one.
