Surely you mean by the bleeding heart liberals.

Personally think Wilberforce got it wrong.

I do not believe that one needs to be a bleeding heart liberal( whatever that is) to be opposed to the Slave Trade. When Lord Wilberforce introduced his bill it was unquestionably one of the first steps that this country took to being a civilised society. I truly believe that anybody condemning Wilberforces role should rightly be vilified as the implication of it is truly racist and I am genuinely surprised that such views have been kept on this website

It says much about the narrative as laid down by the right wing press and the barmy Trump that people can feel free to say "he looks like a muslim"

yet nobody highlighted the fact that Jo Cox's killer Thomas Mair looked like a Christian

Most terrorism in the past 50 years has been perpetrated by people who look like Christians.

You’re thinking ‘I bet the Mail couldn’t pay three writers to mix terrorism and teenage tits.‘

Wrong....

do we wish the same fate on the murderous and cowardly thugs in Croydon ?, who, judging by the pictures, probably look like Christians?

Yes, they are not fit to breath the same oxygen as normal human beings. My rants are not against Muslims or different coloured skins, my rants are against people who show no regard for other human beings. I know you look upon me as racist and sexist, I prefer to look on myself as a responsible adult who tries to obey an ethical code in life.

I have no view as to whether you are sexist

However if you truly believe that support for the slave trade ('Wilberforce got it wrong') is a good thing, then I feel that your idea of what an Ethical code is would seldom coincide with mine .

The slave trade was unequivocally racist. It was evil.

Bristol (Wills, colston etc) like Liverpool london and glasgow, grew very rich on the fruits of the slave trade. It did not make Britain great

It `showed no regard for other Hunan beings '

Whilst I would almost always support freedom of expression i remain genuinely surprised that this forum has not suppressed such utterly racist comments which are not the thoughts of a genuinely 'responsible adult '

I will explain myself. I mentioned that n this thread by mistake about Wilberforce. I was thinking I was in a discussion about the dreadful state of affairs in North East Africa, which indeed is truly appalling. The problem is all the leaders of the countries involved are, in it for the money I suppose you could argue, all politicians are. The majority of the countries have many billionaires, yet none of the poor benefit in any way from this wealth. My point, very much tongue in cheek, was that a lot of the people would be better off in colonial times before self rule. Sorry for the comments for both any offence caused and the fact it was in the wrong thread.

at least you have had the good grace tom acknowledge your error. I think your contrition is fully appropriate and I thank you for that. With regard to your other thoughts I feel that we will need to agree to differ, as I doubt that we would find much common ground
