I have always thought the game could be improved by VAR but after the diabolical decision at Twickenham on Saturday, that robbed England of a deserved victory, I'm not 100% convinced. It can only be useful if there are enough cameras to cover all angles, that certainly wasn't the case on Saturday. During the World Cup it was used, but poorly, foul play was going unpunished and some terrible decisions were made in most of the games. It certainly works in cricket and tennis, where the action is in a very small area, but Rugby League and Union and American Football all seem to need many cameras. I hope it's introduced eventually, but it needs to be, as it is in Rugby, where the clock is stopped so that the crowds know how much added time there will be.

Austin was right though. Officials need support, not hassle, and we have the technology to provide this. Southampton were robbed stupidly of a winning goal against Watford and he's right to be frustrated.
