Tom Nicholls transfer fee

Post by tonyp » 09 Nov 2017, 07:35

DevonLive
Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed on Twitter how much the club bought Tom Nichols from Exeter City for.

The striker moved to London Road from City on February 1, 2016 for what was reported to be an undisclosed fee.
The club revealed in the summer that they had received around £400,000 for Nichols, and MacAnthony has now confirmed what the Posh's outlay on the player was after being questioned about the deal on Twitter.
DMac said "Incorrect? We paid out 352k to Exeter in fees & add ons & sold player for 350k plus future add ons. Simple fact not fiction"

That's good business but he was clearly not the right player for Posh at the time. Getting the right mix of players is obviously very hit and miss. I can't help but feel that a player on a free transfer would have done just as good as Nicholls but I commend Dmac for wanting to spend good money. He could have bought another nice Ferrari instead !
