Rules of the game

Post by bristleposh » 09 Mar 2017, 21:55

Perhaps someone can enlighten me...
I know the kick off rule has changed, whereas previously the ball had to go forward, they can now pass the ball directly back.

However the other day on breakfast TV they showed a clip of a non league game where the centre forward cleared up he goalkeeper and appeared to score direct from the kick off, which I thought was illegal. Apparently it was the guys first game for the club so he scored with his first kick.

I will see if I can find the YouTube clip, if I can I'll post it later.

The player 'kicking off' cannot touch the ball again until another player has done so. The kicker CAN SCORE DIRECT FROM THE KICK OFF.
New rules started this Season.

Brian is right. Law 8 of the FIFA Laws of the Game specifically states that "a goal may be scored directly from the kick-off." This is not new, by the way.

I don't think we've got any players capable of hitting the target from the half way line
