Social Mobility

Post by JohnC » 04 Jan 2018, 19:13

A few years ago, we could expect to be playing most of these teams twice a season....

EPL
Bournemouth
Burnley
Swansea
Watford
Huddersfield
Brighton

National League
Tranmere
Wrexham
Hartlepool
Leyton Orient
Torquay

No, that was Stockport and Chester
If I die tomorrow I'd be all right
Because I believe
That after we're gone The spirit carries on

Yes. And it was not until 1974 that we managed to get back into Division 3.

I seem to remember Ron Atkinson playing, in slow motion, for Oxford at London Road. A few years later, I saw Atkinson, playing in even slower motion, turning out as player-manager of Kettering at Wellingborough. The Poppies and Doughboys drew in front of over 2,500 people in a mid-week barnburner at the Dog & Duck.
