I would imagine if you go in with cash you can call yourself Micky Mouse for all they'll care, but if you're doing it over the phone or by Internet they'll have difficulty taking money from you and sending the tickets to you without your address etc.

Not in possession of a smart card brian, have paid with card and cash, have been going to games for over 40 years, don't know if it's an age thing with me but started to resent the name ? Address ? Type question when buying tickets to the point now where questioning the logic / Reason behind it, if I paid on the day on the gate its irrelevant who I am, hence the question to the club do I have to give details on a Thursday afternoon, if I don't on Saturday.

No. If cash or credit card buying a 'one off' ticket for a game coming up, no details required.

We cannot force you but we will ask. It allows us to track your order should you lose your tickets for instance. You may think no-one would lose their tickets from the trip from the ticket office to the turnstiles but it has happened. There are many reasons why it would help in different scenarios such as the game being called off - we then have proof of you buying a ticket. Don't be scared, we're not the mafia.

buy online, use the "print at home" facility (print your ticket at home, it has a barcode).

And maybe it would suit you to use a Pre-Paid ('pay as you go') card. Maximum anonymity and minimum risk.
