Jason Naismith sounds as if he wants first team football and looks to be on his way.

excellent signing , really is and I'd be astonished if he didn't start tomorrow.

I like Naismith , decent but no more with a great attitude and with less mistakes in him than Mason but neither are a touch on this lad.

I am genuinely astonished we've got him

Astonished he wasn't even on the bench.

That's easy to work out. He has either picked up a knock in yesterday's training or he has been assessed and deemed not to be be up to required fitness levels. He hasn't had a proper pre-season and has not played any games this season, as far as I know. He refused a new contract at Portsmouth for reasons we are not privy to!

He probably was unaware of any of his team mates names having presumably not had a chance to train with them, plus as Ashman says probablky not match fit

I'd be astonished if there wasn't a reason for him not even being on the bench.
The only reason I mentioned it was because Adi said he'd be astonished if he didn't start against Ipswich

I'm astonished that you would take Adi's musings on the lad. He is a tremendous signing (Thompson, not Adi) and will be a tremendous addition to the squad.

Adi should know by now that Darren never plays a new player immediately following his signing.(very odd occasion on subs.bench).

Obviously he was signed well before the Southend game and would, I assume, become eligible to play. As posted previously he has probably been assessed by Gary Wakefield, Craig Smith, Matt Rogers and Sean O'Callaghan and deemed to be not up to Posh's required fitness levels. He hasn't had a proper pre-season and has not played any games this season, as far as I know.
I'm sure that fans would much rather wait than see an unfit player struggle in his efforts before he is ready. Patience! (besides the fact the team has been in sparkling form in the last two games!)

one point against a very average Ipswich and a win against a team that would struggle in the National league is not what I would call sparkling. Improved, might be a better option, banging five or six past Sunderland or Pompey would be sparkling.

Exactly right. If people think this is 'sparkling' form then they are sadly mistaken (or very easily impressed).

Ipswich were there for the beating & anything less than a victory last night would have been a disaster.
