If you are taking pre season friendlies seriously then maybe you need to understand what they're for.

I've seen more than enough of Woodyard to know how good he is thanks.
Wasn't it our serial promotion manager who would definitely have finished in the top six last season who signed him?

Him, O'Hara, Chapman, Bennett, Cummings..... while bombing out Steven Taylor for making fewer mistakes in ten games then Bennett does in one.

Woodyard has been very good in pre-season. As you say Gaz you haven’t watched any pre-season games so comments like that are immaterial.

For just one small part of one friendly and after one of the very worst ever....

tbf mate, the interesting thing with Woodyard is he has played in a few different positions and in different roles.

v reading he was very good in a pressing role as clearly seen in Eisa's goal (2 minutes in
This has been a help to Boydy of course who tbf hasn't hidden from his part in that 'tactic'.
It has been noticeable that at other times he has pushed forward and hasn't looked as lost as he did in doing so last season.

He is never going to be an amazing skilfully talented football but ugly football can be as effective as the pretty stuff, it's all about balance and what the manager wants.

It could be that Reed is a better partner for Boydy as he gets stuck in and can pass a ball too.

Fact is, some players can impress pre- season others (like Eisa thus far) disappoint and it doesn't always get reflected in actual performances when it matters as can be remembered in your example Gaz.

As ever time will tell but also remember pre conceived thoughts on players must be allowed to change if the eyes and brain are willing to work together, look at me and MM and my new found appreciation of his attitude which despite Reading's antics seem to have improved under Fergie
