It could be worse....a Joyce Ross in charge. Not that I'm a misogynist. I love all women, particularly those that know their place.

It appears we won 1-0 but I have absolutely no idea what we are supposed to do, I suppose we celebrate, a goal by Toney and another assist by Magic. It was such a poor game

Not much of a match report but just a couple of observations. Hard fought and deserved 3 points in a half-decent game that somebody was determined to ruin from the off with some very finicky refereeing. There was never enough going on to warrant 6 bookings other than perhaps the treatment being dished out to Maddison and Toney for most of the time. Maddison’s was a joke. While tussling for the ball which spilled away from both players, he slipped, went down and nobody claimed a fee kick and yet he got a yellow. Farcical really, these officials are killing the game even though they are probably following the ground rules set out by the antiquated hierarchy.
On the flip side, Oxford’s (sorry Robinson’s) bullyboy tactics didn’t work today and I’m afraid Fergie done him again. On that showing, only one way Oxford are going and that bus is League 2 bound imo.

poor game, not much entertaining football, from 2 poor teams, great assist and goal, 3 points is 3 points

Highlight of the day, was seeing friends from this board and beyond

Great to see you stuie again looking younger than ever. Yep, poorish game of quality "football", but three points. End of.

I've seen a lot worse. Game could not get flowing as ref was far to keen on stopping it every 5 mins. Maddison's yellow was ridiculous and I am sure they took longer than us over a throw in....
Toney never gets a foul against him even though he's pulled about all over.
Overall pleased with the 3 points. Onwards Upwards. :comeon:

Well, going by the comments on this and the other board it looks like most fans just want us to keep winning and forget, for the time being, entertaining football.
I have to say that I agree. I no longer get up in the middle of the night to watch or listen to the games and all I do is look up the results.

Spot on, except for the five minutes bit. 32 fouls in 90 minutes equates to one just under every three minutes!!
When are we going to get a semblance of a referee this season? Not as bad as the idiot last week but so niggly in his approach to the game - towards both sides too!
Good trip down to the Kassam, despite our coach having a totally unnecessary stop about ten miles short of the ground!
Facilities have improved a touch since last time. The fish and chips were still ok but there is now a Sportsman's type lounge (away fan friendly too) to drink in with the biggest and clearest projector screen I have ever seen.
O'Malley - totally reliable and may now have finally decided the Chapman/O'Malley debate.
Naismith - is really getting the hang of this League One football after his Scottish wilderness. Unlucky that the goal posts didn't fall over from his first half shot!
Knight - looked steady until injured and subbed after about 20 minutes. Not the best debut for him, bless him.
Tafazolli - sub for Knight and was right back to his best.
Woodyard - MOTM for me by a small margin. Good to see him not having to run around like a headless chicken playing in an Evans team in the 'hoof it and run' manner of football.
White - super display again from the youngster. Chances of him staying at the end of the season??
Ward - what a warrior! Surprised to even see him on the pitch. It shows how much Fergie thinks of him.
Toney - struggling a touch to match his efforts pre- Player of the Month poison award. Much better second half and a great finish across the keeper to gain the three points.
Cooper - 45 minutes of good effort but little creativity. Replaced at half time by .....
Tomlin - seems to be closer to Maddison's sphere of the world than most. More restrained but nevertheless a welcome return to the team for the second half.
Maddison - unplayable at times and silly at others. Nobody would have seen the pass to Toney other than Marcus.
Lafferty - good work but injured late on and replaced by Bennett
Bennett - as usual looked good and strong for the limited time he had on the pitch - but this time without the cock ups!
Dempsey - another we should be seeking to keep. Great workrate.

Fantastic to see the team rushing to congratulate Toney and then actively seek out Maddison and all shake his hand individually. Marcus then went over to Toney and they embraced in a man-hug. I really think that Toney and the team are beginning to appreciate the qualities he brings to the team.

Many thanks for a great report Ash. Listening to the game on Radio Cams left me with the impression that the "quality" was poor (the word was used at least once a sentence by the co commentator) and that the diamond was back in vogue if not working out all that well. Qualification for the play offs is no longer in Posh's hands but we need to start winning regularly and hope those above slip up.
