Sir Tommy Robson

Post by Wycliffe » 22 Nov 2018, 17:43

As some of you will know he is celebrating his 50th year at our club.
I and some others want to put on some events to raise some dosh for the old boy who is of the generation who made no dosh out of the game.

Anyway I want to pick your brains and would appreciate your serious comments.

There will be some events planned that may not suit your taste or even your wallet but we will try to arrange stuff for all.

Quick question and whilst I know talk is cheap I'd appreciate serious consideration to a few questions re events to commemorate Sir Tommy's 50 years and to hopefully raise a few £ for the old boy.

An evening with Tommy and a few mate, Coz, Jolly is he's over, Quowy and a few others at say £10-£15 which would include a buffet type meal.
Lighthearted Q n' A with a raffle and auction.
Tommy has some old shirts he's happy to donate.

Somewhere like the fleet if the numbers big enough or Ebs/Exec/Sponsors Lounge.

Someone has mentioned that sort of evening (without the food) at The Broadway.
That may be a bit large but possibly the Key, the difference is the above venues won't charge silly money or in most cases anything at all.

Second idea is to have somewhere like The Bombay Brasserie or similar for the night.
Set menus with x from each order going to the fund.
Again raffle/auction and guests to have on each table with connections to the man.

Give me a clue as to who would be interested in either or both please.
No dates in mind but there'd be plenty of notice.

Thanks all.

.... would be my choice. Thoroughly deserved for Tommy!
