Poshies v Donny

Post by Chompy » 25 Aug 2018, 21:07

10-11 Posh, 5-2 Draw, 7-2 Donny

No Cariboo Cup nonsense, so a nice week off to prepare for the return of the former gaff-er.

We've had the same starting XI for all five games now, so unlikely there'll be any changes barring injury.

Five games this month, with by far the toughest being Pompey at home in the middle. Otherwise, it's softer than August on paper.

Onwards and upwards...

Steve Evans is bound to be awarded manager of the month. I wonder if Jason Cummings will be awarded Player of the month?

Every chance. No question Unkie Steve will be getting the gong. 5/5 with a GD of +11 with an almost entirely new team? No way he doesn't get it. Incredible work, considering the squad is bound to...take time to 'gel'. Lol.

Cummin(g)s doesn't have much opposition in truth. Unless they want to give it to O'Hara. Or Godden. Or Dembele.

Pretty sure we'll win both awards either way.

A massive game this....For McCann.

A Posh legend as a player...no doubt...but a failed and sacked manager who'll be desperate to get one over us.

The majority of our squad never played under him and don't even know him...so the "occasion" won't mean a thing to them

It's just another game and a wonderful opportunity for us to make it 6 on the spin against an average side that haven't scored for 3 games.

Home win

They were the better side by all accounts v Pompey and they were a very pretty side when they came to our place last season.

I get the feeling GM will become a Carlos Carvahal type. Goes to a new club and gets an early response with his easy-going, pals with the players approach, different to Fergie, but it soon wears off.

Let's see if they can deal with the first-half onslaught that's becoming our trademark.

Donny ended our 100% start last season with a goalless draw at the beginning of September, so I am sure Grant will determined to be on the other end of the feeling this season! (Repeating the Manager-of-the-month curse yet again! As we will most certainly be awarded it this month. My only hope is that it isn't announced or awarded until after Saturday.)

there's no curse or jinx...it's just sometimes used as an excuse when a winning run comes to an end.

can you imagine evans blaming a "curse" lol

That's the fifth time he's said that this season.

Wonder if Grant will fall for it....

Plenty of changes, as per the piece in the paper.

Nah, not really, unchanged. Obv.
