It was intended as a rebuke to the general idea of a community conduit for the club. I don’t care much for what a footballer does off a pitch, so long as he doesn’t sully his tenure with disobeying the law etc.

You would if you ran a supporters group

The general premise of a club captain though is exactly as you describe above.

The poll should be for a team captain, I understand when he played JB did both but he was only good at one.

Historically in football no although in this day and age it could be, don't know.

As I'm sure you know the point I was making was JB would have been a great club captain if indeed such a role exists as opposed to sadly his form not being good enough to be a skipper on the pitch

Apparently it's now a flip between Nais-y and Wood-y.

My vote was for Woodyard, coz I'm shrewd and can figure these things out.

Naismith for me.

I've watched all the pre-season games except the last one against Louletano and the feeling I get is that Woodyard would be the natural choice. The locals that I was sitting with at C.S. Maritimo noticed him straight away and were very impressed. Being the best player is not necessarily going to make a good captain and maybe being in defence gives Naismith a bit of an edge. I would still vote for Woodyard but what do I know?
Nobody, other than Steve Evans and Paul Raynor, are really in a position to make that decision and I hope that they choose correctly and that we don't end up swapping the armband mid season.

Two votes for Woodyard in the last 30mins.

Amazing bandwagon jumping there!

He was always the most likely choice. Lol @ anyone who voted for Taff. I'm guessing he withdrew himself from the selection process.

Very true.... look how Forrester's career nose dived after becoming captain - I say that in jest but he was our best player until he went all pub league as some would say about Scotland

And you know a bandwagon when you see one

I know nothing - I voted for Taff. On the basis that he stood out as a bit of a leader on the pitch (based on the way he put himself on the line) and had never seen the othe r2. Like I said - some on here are knowitalls I'm more of your knownothingatall, apart from HP - he knows less :D

Tafazoli is refusing to sign a new contract...That would be another reason why he shouldn't get the gig.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was snapped up within the next couple of weeks....

I didn't know that. Seems to be the new normal now.... Always too good for your current club. Unless you're Danny Lloyd
