It was intended as a rebuke to the general idea of a community conduit for the club. I don’t care much for what a footballer does off a pitch, so long as he doesn’t sully his tenure with disobeying the law etc.

The general premise of a club captain though is exactly as you describe above.

The poll should be for a team captain, I understand when he played JB did both but he was only good at one.

Historically in football no although in this day and age it could be, don't know.

As I'm sure you know the point I was making was JB would have been a great club captain if indeed such a role exists as opposed to sadly his form not being good enough to be a skipper on the pitch
