Three bids from Preston for Hughes rejected today....One bid for Edwards rejected yesterday.
And 2 for Lloyd as well. If you believe anything on his Twitter feed. He's been known for misinformation there you know
If we get rid of those two and Gwion then we will need to replace them. They may not be the number one choices but they will certainly be on the bench at least next season. There is no good getting rid of these and getting lumbered with Miller, Morais, Penfold, Kanu, Taylor, Grant, Borg, Anderson, Baldwin, Cartwright and Freestone unless Evans sees Freestone, Kanu, Borg and Cartwright as potential top players.
It's a big challenge for the club, having to get rid of some reasonably good players before we get in properly proven and better replacements.

From another thread
If we have 13 players available for immediate tranfer, how come the only players other clubs are interested in are ones we have retained, five in total plus of course Leo who has already gone. This suggests that Steve Evans (despite all those opposed to him) knows what he is doing.

of course he does.

we'd struggle to give a few of the 13 away....we don't want them why should anyone else.

hughes and edwards are part of the first team squad...so it's pretty obvious they'd need replacing.

Spot on. There's a reason why Evans doesn't want them - maybe no-one else does either.... Yet!

Evans is a smart manager and his record over his career he does know what he's doing. Providing he builds his own squad. It makes for positive stuff to look forward to doesn't it?

All those you name should be given free transfers if the club does not want them. Are they still here because the club is seeking unrealistic fees?

PLEASE make this happen Barry.
:stupid: Baldwin move would be good. Not so sure about Lyle Taylor though (28) as he seems to be a bit of a journeyman with ten clubs (including loans) in eleven years but would seem to fit in with our policy of signing big powerful players. (6ft. 2in)
However, McAnthony has denied that we are in for him.

Hughes close to joining Preston.

Fee agreed...Just the medical and he's on his way.

Shame that,mi thought he was one of our most consistent performers. On the plus side he's going up a level so other than cup competitions is unlikely to come back and bite us.....

He is a left back who can play Centre back.

I'd expect a like for like replacement

He was ok but a long way from irreplaceable.

If we end up woth someone the calibre of Naismith on the left side, with CD as a back-up, we'll be fine.

Of course we can always play Maddison there if needs must.

One assumes the fee will be undisclosed. On Preston's insistence of course.

Suspect they haven't seen Captain Calamity play much given the write up here. "he could guide the club back to the Championship by firming things up at the back"

He will mix things up the back given his regular moment of madness he offers... :)

We shouldn't have much trouble signing a better left back than Hughes.

This is no big loss.. and we've probably got an offer we couldn't refuse for a lower league standard footballer
