Yet another club insisting on the fee remaining undisclosed!

Amazing how often this happens, given it's never DMac who insists on it...

Been on our radar for a while this lad. Don't see him as a replacement for MM myself.

Welcome to Posh Geotge, looking forward to see you play
As am I, but unless we sell Marcus I can see there being some serious arguments at freekick and corner time

No there won't. Marcus will obiovusly take them. Danny Lloyd has already proven this.

@DMAC102

So after been accused of being selling club by some cynics (2 years ago when we last sold high value asset) today’s addition takes our spending over £500k Mark in Jan alone & lot more since summer. Don’t ever question my ambition or thirst for success for @theposhofficial thanks

It looks a great signing on paper and a big Posh welcone to you lad, but, other than the obvious namely a replacement for MM, several other things stand out with his arrival

For example it's already been suggested GM's intention could be to play him through the middle. Will it be a master stroke or yet another square pegs in round holes ploy from the boss?

If we dont sell MM maybe he will play on the other wing and if that was to happen what would that mean a death bell for Lloyd, and if it did maybe he will be the commercial sacrifice to offset annual wage bill, as surely there has to be one?

If we were close to FFP before our two new arrivals, surely Cooper, signed for an undisclosed yet serious amount of money will take us up to the limit and if it does will that mean there will be no other new arrivals?

Disappointing if that was the case because with Miller's imminent departure, and am sorry whilst great to see him back, contrary to most on here I dont see Junior as a consistent goalscorer does it mean we can wave goodbye to the Target style striker DM suggested was likely and if one does come in does it then suggest our chairmans comment about being close to our legal FFP budget was either misleading or perhaps a simple ruse to drive down wage demands?

oh I love being a footy fan !!

This seems to be a theme stuie.

Found this on the Crewe forum, such as it is...

"bit surprised that Cooper is holding off signing. In August he was great and was the only assist for all our goals. However, since then he has just been ineffectual/uninterested/incapable. With his notorious lack of consistency, why would anybody be interested?"

"Well Mike I think those two players have an over rated opinion of themselves. Would be surprised if a fee of £250,000 was exceeded for either. First Cooper, most know that he is only going to perform if the opposition are going to be non-physical. If the opponents get stuck in George disappears."

"Cooper's goals and assists last season and this make him a prospect. So, yes, plenty will be interested. It just depends on what we want for him and what prospective buyers are prepared to pay. But like it or not, his consistency,or lack of it, won't bother anyone with any football nous"

Certainly looks as though there is something going on regarding Maddison.
Joe Ward and now George Cooper. How many wingers do we need?
Neither of them seem to be in the same class as Marcus.

McCann has stated he intends to use Cooper as an attacking midfielder...He wouldn't have been first choice for that role as we wanted Cullen and were also interested for Byrne.

We've been after him for a year though...So he may well be seen as a long term replacement for Maddison.

Leeds fans know less than members of this board but they are hoping-
HITC
Leeds United fans believe that the door has just opened for Marcus Maddison to move to Elland Road.

Peterborough United have signed George Cooper today from Crewe Alexandra, with the attacking midfielder becoming Grant McCann’s side’s second January signing.

Joe Ward has also joined the Posh, to strengthen their creative options.

And Leeds fans now feel that Maddison could be available for transfer this month.

The best outcome IMO would be Cooper in for Lopes/Doughty,Ward in for LLoyd and keep Maddison. Also, looks like we are getting a new right back aswell. If all this happens,we will have strength in every position.Let's hope it all pans out.
Exciting times!

we are not getting a new right back....mccann has changed his mind on that one.

what we need now is another left back and striker back up.

plus unloading 2 or 3
