As a reason, I would think that our plan of hitting teams on the counter attack, breaks down when teams don't attack us. We do better against the better teams because they don't fear us and end up leaving us in a position to counter. Sadly that doesn't come off for us on the odd occasions where we concede against a top team early on giving them something to defend.
For the most part our defence including Grant have been superb, the other five apart from the breakaways and set pieces don't seem to be good enough to break down defensively minded teams.
This may seem an odd critique when looking at the stats of Marriot and Madison, but they are only two of the five.
That’s our problem. Naive and polite against under-performing clubs and savvy and confident against the better teams. We have the quality but obviously not the mentality.
All down to attitude and application.

This is where McCann has got to start earning his money.

Sebastian Stockbridge refereed the Walsall 1 v Posh 1 game on 16th September. He showed the yellow card to Anthony Grant on 28 minutes and Gwion Edwards on 58 minutes.
He also disallowed what Stuie and many others thought was a dead cert Posh goal

Still on track, disappointing not to get 3 points at Walsall, especially as imo we scored twice.

It will be interesting to see how GM sets them up today.Could be a 4-4-1-1 with Cooper just behind Marriot and Ward in for Lloyd.Whoever plays and whatever the formation,it is time we started winning these sort of games.UTP

Even though Cooper can't play v Lincoln or Leicester because he's cup tied, I'd still be surprised if he starts. It's never been our 'done thing' for new signings to start their first game. I'd expect him to be on the bench and probably get around half an hour.

The onus will be on GM to start a perceived attacking line up against a bottom-end team at home, so this could be the day Junior and Jack renew their partnership.

From the Official site
MCCANN QUOTES
“We have a big week with the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night and the FA Cup tie with Leicester City next week, but this game with Oldham is the most important because it is the next game. Oldham have made some good signings in recent months and they will provide a tough test for us but we are looking forward to it. The players are in a good place at the minute.”

You reckon we can help the break the run?
I'm going for no win in 8 league games!
:comeon:
From the Oldham Official site -
Peterborough United are three without a win in the league but enjoyed cup success in both the FA Cup and the Checkatrade Trophy.

They beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Villa Park to progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup and they set up a quarter final tie against Lincoln City in the Checkatrade Trophy following a penalty shootout win over Luton Town.

Posh currently sit 9th in Sky Bet League One and have picked up 40 points from 27 games.

Speaking ahead of the game, Wellens said: ““It will be a good football match. They will be really open in possession and they won’t change the way they play.
“Marriott will play up front on his own and Lloyd will play one side with Maddison on the other, both will come inside a lot and get their shots off.

“Maddison has one of the highest assists whilst Marriott is the top goalscorer in the league. They are good in possession but very open when they lose the ball.”

well, a great 3 nil win, however, to be fair Oldham did not deserve to lose 3 nil, well we couldn't win against a nine man MK, so well done. I thought Forrester was superb today, and GM got his substitutions right

Lloyd was obviously unhappy at being substituted, and went straight down the tunnel, only for GM to follow him down a couple of minutes later

fortunately Oldham never looked like scoring
