Fleetwood v Posh

Post by tonyp » 13 Dec 2017, 05:27

No doubt fans will be wondering which Posh will turn up for this game.
The Posh that played Woking could easily have scored more than 5 and their goalie can't take all of the credit.
Everybody knows that we were always going to win that match even when they went one up.
But this one is going to be an entirely different kettle of fish.
Fleetwood do have injury problems.
Fleetwood have slipped to 14th, after winning only one of their last 10 League One games, and (Manager) Rosler admits his current side is no match for last season’s fourth-place finishers due to those injuries.
Nevertheless it will be a tough game. I can't see a 4-2 this time. We might have to make do with a 1-0 win.

No one with any sense would back a Posh win here...

No away wins since August...and a cold afternoon in Lancashire doesn't exactly bring the best out of us

We've been poor...and well beaten at Fleetwood the last two seasons.

Home win.

Nobody with any sense would have backed Woking to win the last game. But some did.
Some even rubbished anybody who suggested we would walk it in.
"We've been poor...and well beaten at Fleetwood the last two seasons." is irrelevant.
It's right now we're talking about. Be prepared to be surprised (and, I hope, happy).

This is terrible stuff everybody. I'm partly responsible too (before those without sin start throwing the 1st stone).... I'm going to try and refrain from any of this rubbish going forwards. It would help if the mods could delete all the pointless posts - a lot of which are fairly objectionable and frankly a bit embarrassing all round

It seems to take much longer than the wiser fans for McCann to recognise his players' best positions. If the can get that into his skull, Fleetwood will see nothing out of the game.

0ver 3 months to realise 3 at the back didn't work. Edwards is better out wide and Leo not at WB! Most fans knew that back in August and said so on here. It was worth trying bit with no wing backs in the squad an odd choice. That said our form is still poor in a simpler formation

Most of September was played with three at the back and then surprisingly teams began to rumble us. I know a lot of people poo-poo talk of formations but they can be very effective, as long as opposing teams don't work out how you are playing, adapt their tactics and shut off games. Our management team need to be able to combat any changes (which I sense they do) and it is then up to the players to work it out on the pitch too!

I will concede, McCann is learning but, to date he has been imo abysmal. Too much optimistic talk and then getting caught in opposition headlights on match days. He seems to be moving on from that but he must do more.

GM can only work with what he's got. Some of the players make some crucial mistakes at times which can end in the opposition taking advantage. I just wonder if they are being over long in the warm up before a match because most of the mistakes are in the last 10 minutes when they are probably knackered by then.
They are still warming up long after the other team has gone back to the dressing room.

Is the Fleetwood game off? Given our reputation for throwing away games to "poorer performing teams" (and that is getting harder to find) this has home win written all over it. But I've drunk 5 pints of whatever Tony's on so here's hoping
