Leo - an appeal .........

Post by ashman » 18 Oct 2017, 19:34

..... to the home fans to get off his back, get behind him and realise that we really do have a star in the making. Anybody who was at Southend couldn't fail to be impressed by this young man. He was totally unplayable at times and seemed to be revelling in his role alongside Jermaine in the middle of the park.

Hear hear!

Unfortunately the non-groaners are in the minority.

It's like the old Roker Roar, but it's the ABAX Groan.

Do you keep quiet about Ricky Miller then or bore them shitless with your hilarious naming of him as Gormley?

It was one game where he actually played football. I was wrong before kick-off but it needs to be done consistently or it doesn’t matter.

the booing on saturday was for grant coming off....not leo coming on.

the fans aren't the issue here...he's been forced into the side too quickly and too often for one so young and physically weak.

playing him at wing back hasn't helped him either...he's a midfielder.

managing him correctly is the key to his future...so it's about time they started to.

And we could even extrapolate that if we had a manager who knew our players positions and had a tactical nous we would probably be sitting comfortably in the top 4.

A tactical nous? Not heard of A tactical nous before!

If he has made mistakes and of course he has sure as hell a fair few of his players have also.
They have let themselves, their manager and of course us down over the past few weeks but there were signs second half Tuesday that they were getting things together again.
One can only hope so as imo there is talent in there and being 'out of position' is only one excuse/reason.

Hopefully McCann has now realised that Leo is a great talent but not as a wing back. Most games I've seen this season (not many to be fair) he has looked brilliant attacking.... Ay him in his best position not one that makes up the numbers for a formation that doesn't work with our squad

Leo was very, very good last Tuesday v Southend. Hopefully he will be allowed to settle in that position, as make no mistake he is a talent, but does need handling in the correct mutual footballing manner.

Aaah yes, the correct mutual footballing manner. If I had a pound for every time I've used that expression...
