Re: January japery

if we could get tomlin back, plus keep ricky miller and then see if Joey barton was available, and then put in a bid for a proven international striker like ched evans and bring back darren ferguson to replace mccann then we might be able to get a season ticket, at the crown court Add to that the H...

Re: LDSL

In my opening post on this thread, I commented: 'Towards the end of last season, the manager (‘I don’t make the same mistake twice’) admitted to overusing LDSL, but then continued to select him to the bitter end. In all competitions, he made forty-six appearances, playing in the League opener (when...

The best thing possible - an enforced break
One thing better than 'The best thing possible' might be a planned break for an uninjured player as part of a rational programme of player development.

Re: January japery

Cardiff have now joined the race for JM. This one would make sense. In their position they have to take a gamble to try and make the PL. Zohore hasn't returned as many as looked likely pre-season but they're well in the top six and about 1-3 shots to finish there and a prolific striker is the missi...

Re: Social Mobility

50 years ago we played these teams twice in the season Scunthorpe (drew 1 lost 1) Northampton (lost 2) Bury (lost 2) Shrewsbury (drew 1 lost 1) Gillingham (won 1 lost 1) Walsall (won 1 lost 1) Oxford (drew 1 lost 1) Stockport (won 1 lost 1) Swindon (drew 2) I seem to remember Ron Atkinson playing, ...

Re: Aston Villa V The Posh

Cheltenhamlion Oh pleeease , do play De Laet, he is so badly injury crocked he makes our Steven Taylor look like Mr Universe. As for not wanting an extra seven cup games ( it might tire the players  ) what planet are you on? You might just beat Posh but to even suggest you have any chanc...

Re: Posh v Doncaster

Just one of the reasons. They have seven 1-0 victories; we have one. Factor in the injury-time debacles at Charlton and at home to Doncaster when we lost the clean sheet in injury time and there's your fifteen point margin. Burton did something similar a couple of years ago. Well, they are a few mo...

Re: This season

So you are agreeing with Stuie then? My opinions are my own; whether or not they coincide to any degree with any other poster's is incidental. We have a manager who claims not to make the same mistake twice, but so far, this season looks very like last season, and I'd be hard put to point to any si...

Re: Posh v Doncaster

Shrewsbury have eleven clean sheets in L1, which is why they're fifteen points ahead of us. Just one of the reasons. They have seven 1-0 victories; we have one. Factor in the injury-time debacles at Charlton and at home to Doncaster when we lost the clean sheet in injury time and there's your fifte...

Re: This season

If the team is mediocre, then his professional judgement is badly awry; if it's as good as he keeps telling us it is, then it's being coached very poorly. So you are agreeing with Stuie then? however I do not feel Posh will reach our full potential, unless we bin Grant, or Grant learns faster than ...

Re: This season

The manager never seems to miss an opportunity to extol the virtues of his squad. And that's what a manager should do isn't it? A manager shouldn't blame the players for everything all the time. Well, that is debatable, since such statements are part of the manager's ongoing dialogue with an ever-d...

Re: This season

The manager never seems to miss an opportunity to extol the virtues of his squad. 'A tremendous group of players' was his latest puff, pre-Doncaster. Those with the perspicacity to distinguish mutton from lamb might beg to differ. But the MuttonMeister has made a rod for his own back in this regard....

Re: Posh v Doncaster

With a minute of first-half added time having just been announced, Posh were awarded a free kick in the Doncaster half, in a position comparable to that from which Maddison had set up the first goal, albeit from the opposite side of the pitch. Instead of trying to double our lead, we opted to play t...
