Re: Southend v Posh

Maybe Bristol Rovers could be prevailed upon to loan us Tom Nichols.

Re: ex poshies

Tom Nichols missed a penalty at Sixfields today, bringing him to a total of no goals in fifteen appearances for Bristol Rovers this season. Rovers didn't have much trouble scoring, though, rattling in six unanswered goals against the team which beat us on Tuesday.

Re: Poshies v Wigan

I wasn't overly reassured by Baldwin's return to the colours. He had his habitual 'left-for dead' moment when he missed a challenge on the half-way line, and needed a good save by Bond to bail him out. More worryingly, for Wigan's equaliser he just seemed to lose his man at the back post.

Re: Posh v Bradford City

I'm not sure we know if the ostensibly formidable teams will give us more trouble than the apparently weaker teams against which we've struggled in recent seasons. Most would have identified eventual winners Sheffield United and runners-up Bolton as powers in the division last season, but third-plac...

Re: New contracts for Maddison and Jermaine

Having seen them I'll give him ten out of ten for both passes, goal 3 was beautiful, still a lot for Jack to do but I assume that was an assist, the other was not although he took the penalty well. According to The Times the team of the week our best player, or at least the only one in the team was...

Re: New contracts for Maddison and Jermaine

'Nil assists'? Maddison's first-time pass set up Marriott's goal at Sixfields. To lie about verifiable facts doesn't promote clarity of discussion. Not a deliberate lie, I assure you, I watched the wonderful C5 highlights, I think the only thing they showed was the keeper hooking the ball out of th...

Re: Northampton v Posh 26/8/17

From the Northampton Chronicle and Echo: It could have been the day when the Cobblers' faltering season finally spluttered into life; instead their fortunes plunged to a desperate new low as they were easily swatted aside by an efficient but hardly outstanding Peterborough outfit who barely broke sw...

Re: New contracts for Maddison and Jermaine

Perhaps a touch of realism needs adding to this thread, his attitude undoubtedly has improved, but to suggest we will fall apart without him is over egging it. In four successful games he has contributed nil assists and one goal in a game already won. This from a man who still takes every corner an...

Re: Posh v Barnet (Carabao Cup) Match day thread

This seems like a good opportunity to assess the overall strength of the squad, test its versatility and manage the health and fitness of players. Versatility? Why not try a back four of Tafazolli and Hughes, flanked by Shephard and Penny. Taylor and Baldwin get a rest -- not earned, but with the fu...

Re: Penalties

True. It makes you wonder what -- if anything -- Baldwin was thinking when he conceded the game-losing, red-card earning, last-minute penalty at Oxford last season. A desperate, out-of-control lunge in the penalty area doesn't indicate any confidence in the goalkeeper.

Penalties

I forget what the exact penalty count was last season, but I think it was something like four-to-one to our disadvantage -- about twelve penalties conceded to three earned (and only one converted, as I recall). If these figures have any significance, they might suggest that we do too much defending(...

Re: Goalkeepers

Generally speaking, goalkeepers tend to be ok with Posh. It's just the 10 in front of him you should worry about ! The goalkeeping position has been something of a black hole since Tyler lost his place to Lewis. in the last decade we haven't developed a Football League-calibre keeper from wit...

Re: Team v Plymouth

DMac seems upbeat, he said we had dud strikers last season....(said AFTER the sale of Nichols) who's 12 goals in 40 run outs were a 'massive' help last season, as Chompy would doubtless agree lol.....I'll be following him this term, see how many he scores... or don't score for Bristol. Anyway, back...

Re: Jack Baldwin

The words I used in my original post were: '....I don't see why he's a better player for us than Brisley, Burgess or Santos; I don't think that this can be interpreted as saying that Brisley and Santos were better than Baldwin: 'not better than' doesn't equate to 'worse than'. As far as Brisley is c...

Re: Jack Baldwin

No, I wasn't trying to be funny. Burgess was virtually an ever-present for League Two champions Portsmouth last season (44 L2 appearances, 4 goals 5 yellow cards and one red card.) Baldwin was intermittently available for a mid-table League One side (27 L1 appearances, 1 goal, 1 own goal, 9 yellow c...
