Re: Cricket World Cup

India appear to be the team to beat. They thrashed Pakistan at an Old Trafford thronged with Asians and watching on screens outside with a great display of batting and bowling. I noticed on the Sky coverage the high number of commercials for companies offering their services to transfer currency bac...

Re: Women’s World Cup

Womens' football is a sexist construct. There should not be separate competitions for men and women if , as women say, they should be treated equally. I suppose you would have them share dressing rooms as well. With the millions of pounds available in football nowadays the cost of an additional 2 c...

Re: Cricket World Cup

Tony will be relieved that the Aussies managed to see off Pakistan in front of a large crowd of the latter's supporters in Taunton. They looked to be heading for a score well in excess of 350 but eventually stuttered to 308 all out after trying too many big shots. Pakistan at times looked to be we w...

Re: Cricket World Cup

The Aussies recover to scrape past the Windies in a closely fought game. Aussies just about deserved to win but the Windies must have thought they were playing the umps too.

Re: Cricket World Cup

Pakistan 348/8 England 334/9 (50 ov, target 349) Blimey! That's a surprise (to me, anyway) England behind the asking rate from the start after a poor display of fielding in front of a hostile crowd. They must have thought the match was being played in Karachi. In their reply England relied too much...

Re: Cricket World Cup

First five games Today (Thursday) England v South Africa England to win Pretty good predicting so far. Pity only Wycliffe is the only other one interested. England off to the worst possible start with Bairstow's first ball duck but then set a decent target. The difference between the two teams was ...

Re: Hyphenated Players

Despite the splurge about England providing all four teams for the Euro finals there was only one England qualified player, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, in the starting line ups in Baku last night. He started well but gave away a clumsy penalty later on to hand Chelsea a chance which Hazard duly put away.

Re: Nikki Lauda

His injuries remind me of those suffered by my old mate who was stuck in the rear seat of a burning 2 door car many years ago. His fellow back seat passenger died. I was horrified when I visited Ken in hospital - his head was burnt to a crisp and his fingers burnt down to stubs. He is still going st...

I hope Charlton get double figures against them.
Well they didn't did they!
No, but Doncaster failed in an even more ignominious way - losing to penalties!
With ex Poshie Tommy Rowe missing the vital one despite finding the target in open play.
